Lots of new ideas have emerged out of this research time - some more fleshed out, others very much still at conception stages and others again as playful moments that existed in the here and now of the time, space and context I was in.
Exploring & queering my body’s relationship with ballet movement language. This was an improvisation, shot at The Grange Projects during my residency there. Music credit: 'Dance Me to the End of Love' by Douglas Dare & London Contemporary Orchestra. Reclaiming, failing, queering (ballet) technique.
THE DREAM: Make it into a short film with choreographed movement (work with a queer, trans? artist who works with ballet technique to help develop the choreography), with a version of the song sang by artist Rowan For Now, with a live musician (maybe cello player), maybe set in an old church. A bit like ‘Take Me To Church’ danced by Sergei Polunin, but queer and less traditionally ballet. Short film + live performance version. Tragic, beautiful, dark.

An exchange of practice from a distance, with artist Rowan For Now. A process of translating, passing on, developing, transforming.
I shared a song. I shared 3 words I was feeling inspired by (Potential - Defiance in claiming space - Desire). Rowan responded to the words I offered with 3 more words (Inner sense of knowing - Holding - Longing / Hunger). We improvised to the song and to the words, separately, then put our two recordings together. It felt like a really beautiful and generous sharing of research.
